Policy PDF explained

Is There a Tool That Reads My Homeowners Insurance PDF and Explains It?

Yes. CoverageDecoder reads the homeowners, condo, or renters policy PDF you upload and explains what it says: exclusions, deductibles, endorsements, and limits, each tied to the page it came from, plus questions you may want to ask your agent.

Start with a free quick check built from a few questions. The full explanation of your uploaded policy is a one-time $9. It is educational, not insurance advice, and an AI-generated report can be wrong or incomplete.

    How it works

    1. Answer a few questions about your home, your state, and your situation.
    2. Choose the free quick check, or pay $9 and upload your policy PDF. The full policy gives the most complete result. A declarations page alone gives a shorter one.
    3. Read your report on screen and in your email. Each policy finding quotes the wording and gives the page.
    4. Take the questions to your agent. The report drafts them into an email you can send.

    What you can upload

A homeowners, condo or unit-owner, townhouse, or renters policy as a PDF, up to 32 MB. The full policy, with its endorsements, gives the most complete explanation. Auto, life, health, and commercial policies, claim files, and denial letters are not supported.

    What it does not do

CoverageDecoder does not sell insurance, recommend coverage or insurance companies, or decide whether a claim would be paid. It is not a substitute for your agent or your insurance company. Your policy as issued has the final word, and an AI-generated report can miss or misread something, so confirm anything important with your agent.

    Where it is available

CoverageDecoder is not available for properties in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Vermont, or Virginia. In Florida, the free quick check is available but policy upload is not. Availability as of November 2026.

    Your policy and your privacy

There is no account. Your PDF is sent to our AI service provider to build the report and is not saved in CoverageDecoder's report database. We never sell your information. See the Privacy Policy for provider processing and retention details.

    Common questions

Can I upload just my declarations page?

Yes. A declarations page shows limits, deductibles, and the list of endorsements, but not the full exclusions and conditions, so the report may be shorter.

How is this different from pasting my policy into a chatbot?

A chatbot answers the questions you think to ask. CoverageDecoder asks about your home, state, and situation first, then explains what your policy says about the topics those answers point to, including ones you may not know to ask about.

    Is my policy stored?

Your PDF is used to build your report and is not saved in CoverageDecoder's report database. There is no account, and your information is never sold.

What if the report gets something wrong?

Your policy as issued, and your agent or insurance company, have the final word. If your report fails to generate, email support@coveragedecoder.com for a refund.
