Wildfire

Wildfire is normally treated as fire damage, which a standard policy addresses. The surprises are elsewhere. Smoke and ash cleanup, the cost of living somewhere else during an evacuation order, and brush-clearance rules that some insurers now require. In high-risk areas some companies are not writing new policies at all, and the state's insurer of last resort has its own limits. Ask your licensed agent what your policy says about evacuation costs and smoke damage, and whether your area has any special conditions.
