Dog breed liability surprises

Some policies exclude liability for certain dog breeds, or for any dog with a bite history. Others cover dogs but cap the amount. If your dog bites a guest or a neighbor, the liability part of your policy is what would respond, if it applies. The breed list, when there is one, is written into the policy or an endorsement. Your policy and its endorsements will show whether specific breeds are listed. A CoverageDecoder report can point you to that wording in your own policy, and you can decide from there whether it is worth a conversation with your agent.
